Humanity faces unprecedented challenges due to the effects of climate change already being felt around the world. To meet the emission targets set by governments, with the aim of restricting global warming to less than 1.5oC compared to pre-industrial levels, CSCP will need the public to adopt a profound change in lifestyles, along with systemic changes in other aspects of society.

Recognizing the challenge and responding to this need is the Academy of Change, a unique capacity building program on sustainable behavior change. It is designed for leaders working on climate change and participation in sustainability within the non-governmental organization (NGO) sector. The program allows participants to incorporate evidence-based experience and knowledge about citizens’ behaviors into their strategies and projects, generating greater impact from their activities.

Academy of Change is a non-profit initiative of the Collaborating Centre on Sustainable Consumption and Production, Behavior Change and the International Civil Society Centre, funded by the KR Foundation.

The program will consist of seven phases, with approximately three weeks allocated to each, between May and September 2020. After an introductory in-person workshop in Central Europe, the program will use a variety of formats to take participants on a journey from theoretical models of behavioral science to practical tools, implementation guidance, and evaluative thinking.

Each stage will incorporate expert views, case studies and alternative perspectives for consideration. Each stage will begin with a launch of material in various formats and themes, followed by a live discussion that will take place on Tuesday one week after the fall of the material.

The delivery will be supported by a variety of media, from the initial in-person workshop to training videos, live discussions, podcasts, blog posts and more.
