The UNESCO-Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum Prize for exemplary practices and results with a view to improving the effectiveness of teachers was created in 2008 with the aim of supporting the improvement of the quality of teaching and learning for the achievement of objectives of Education for All, which is one of UNESCO’s priorities.

The Prize is awarded every two years thanks to the generous donation of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al-Maktum of the United Arab Emirates. The award is endowed with US $ 300,000 divided equally among the three winners, whose projects are aimed at improving the results and effectiveness of teachers worldwide.

The winners are selected by an international jury composed of five eminent specialists selected for their high level of knowledge and experience on issues related to teachers.

The Prize will be awarded for the sixth time in a ceremony that will take place during the World Teachers’ Day celebration at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris on October 5, 2020.
