Since the first prize in 1990, the Volvo Environment Prize has become one of the most respected environmental awards in the scientific world.
The winners represent all fields of environmental and sustainability studies and initiatives.
The Volvo Environment Prize is awarded by an independent foundation. A Scientific Committee carries out the initial selection and evaluation of the candidates. The International Jury of the Prize, a group of internationally renowned scientists, makes the final selection of the prizewinners.
The Volvo Environment Prize is awarded annually. The Prize consists of a craft diploma, a glass sculpture and a cash prize of SEK 1.5 million (approximately €145,000 or US$167,000). The prize-giving ceremony takes place in Stockholm in November of each year.
Nominations for the 2020 prize must be submitted by 10 January 2020.
