Eco-Hero Award for environmental initiatives of children between 8 and 16 years

The non-profit organization (NGO) Action For Nature (AFN) opens its call for the international Young Eco-Hero Awards, with the purpose of recognizing and rewarding individual environmental initiatives of young people between the ages of eight (8) and sixteen (16).

Eligibility and how to participate

Applicants must be between eight (8) and sixteen (16) years old and have initiated an environmental project of their own. There are no other participation limitations.
 
To apply, an online application form must be completed, with personal information (full name, address, phone number, other), and in addition:
 
  • Answer key questions about the project:
    • What is the title of it?
    • Description of the project.
    • What inspires the candidate to be part of the change?
    • When did the project start and end? If it is ongoing, how long do you intend to maintain it?
    • What are the objectives? Have you met them?
    • Who else contributed to the success of the project?
    • What did the candidate learn? What experience marked him/her?
    • What are the plans for the future?
    • Among others.

About the project

The project must be focused on the environment. It must be a young person’s own initiative and be nearing completion or having been completed.
 
Also, the projects must have been written and developed in English.
 
Projects related to domestic or confined animals will not be accepted.

Eco – Hero Awards

The winners will receive:

  • Public recognition.
  • Cash prize.
  • Certified to help protect and preserve the environment

The winners will serve as role models for other young people, showing that each individual can make a difference.

Selection criteria

Preference is given to projects more than two (2) years old and/or projects in full development.

The application will be evaluated according to:

  • Originality.
  • Difficulty.
  • Organization.
  • Influence on other people.
  • Use of resources: experts, community leaders, bookstores, among others
  • Impact on the environment, etc.
